Parenting (custody and Access)

Parenting (custody and Access)

Parenting (custody and Access)

Decision-making responsibility (formerly “custody”) and parenting time (formerly “access”) can be difficult to navigate after a separation. Questions often arise about matters such as travel consent, or obtaining and renewing government documents and passports for a child. Because every family’s situation is unique, Richards & Co. Family Law takes the time to understand our clients and develop strategies tailored to their specific needs.

Support - Child support

Parenting (custody and Access)

Parenting (custody and Access)

Child support is a basic right for every child, and a parent’s responsibility to provide financial support begins at birth. These matters can sometimes be complex, which is why guidance from an experienced and compassionate advocate is so important. At Richards & Co. Family Law, we apply both federal and provincial guidelines to protect the best interests of the child while ensuring fair and appropriate support for all parties.

Support- Spousal Support

Parenting (custody and Access)

Support- Spousal Support

Whether you were married or in a common-law relationship, spousal support may be an issue after separation. In family law, the Court reviews each case individually, using the Spousal Support Advisory Guidelines for direction. Because the Court has discretion over eligibility, amount, and duration, spousal support—often called “alimony”—can be complex. At Richards & Co. Family Law, we work with you to create a personalized plan that reflects your unique circumstances.

Property Division

Domestic Contracts

Support- Spousal Support

Property division can be one of the more complex aspects of family law. At Richards & Co. Family Law, we provide clear advice and strong representation to guide you through the process. Our goal is to ensure your property is divided fairly and that your rights are fully protected.

Domestic Contracts

Domestic Contracts

Domestic Contracts

When a relationship or marriage begins without a written agreement, the law sets certain obligations if the relationship ends. A domestic contract gives couples the opportunity to set their own terms, address potential issues in advance, and protect assets that may not otherwise be covered by law. At Richards & Co. Family Law, we work to educate and guide our clients so they can achieve the best possible outcome.

Divorce

We provide legal advice and representation for both simple divorces and those that involve additional issues, such as parenting arrangements, child support, spousal support, and property division.
